Text messages for an insurance claim or dispute

Insurance files are read by people working through a queue. A claim handler or an ombudsman will read a single labelled PDF; they will not open nineteen image attachments and work out the order. The messages you exchanged with an adjuster, a contractor or the other party are often the only contemporaneous record of what was said.

ThreadProof produces one document from those screenshots, with dates, numbering, a declaration and a SHA-256 appendix, built entirely in your browser.

Start with one screenshot. It stays on your device and you will see the first page in seconds.

What claim handlers look for

Timing and consistency. When was the incident reported, what was said at the time, what was promised, and does the account in the messages match the account in the claim form. Screenshots that include the date and time header do that work on their own.

If the claim involves a repair or a contractor, include the quote and scheduling messages. If it involves another party, include the exchange in the days after the incident rather than later reconstructions.

  • First report of the incident and the reply
  • Adjuster or handler messages, with dates
  • Contractor quotes, schedules and delays
  • Any statement about cover, excess or liability

Why the hash appendix helps here

Insurance disputes turn on whether a record is contemporaneous. The appendix lists a SHA-256 fingerprint of each original file, computed on your device at import. If the file you keep is later compared against the one you sent, the fingerprints either match or they do not. It is a small thing that costs nothing and is difficult to add after the fact.

Sending it in

Most insurer portals cap attachments well below the size of raw phone screenshots. The Email profile compresses to stay under 25 MB. Use a neutral filename so the document does not announce its contents in an inbox, and keep the original screenshots and the backup zip in case a second version is requested.

ThreadProof formats documents and is not an insurer, a broker or a law firm. It gives no advice about cover and makes no representation about how a claim will be handled.

Questions people ask

Can I include photos of the damage?
Yes. Photos import alongside the screenshots and are numbered in the same sequence.
Does the hash prove the messages are real?
No. It fingerprints the file you imported, so a later copy can be compared against it. It says nothing about what happened before the screenshot was taken.
Can I remove the other party's phone number?
Yes, and it will appear in the redaction log as a redacted phone number.
What does it cost and can I cancel?
Personal is $9 per month or $79 per year. A one-time Case Pass is $24 for 90 days. Professional is $49 per month or $439 per year. Cancel anytime from your Account page in two taps; access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Every charge has a 14-day money-back policy: see the policy at /refunds.
