Exhibit
A document or object presented as part of a case, given a label such as Exhibit A.
An exhibit is a document or object presented as part of a matter and given a label so it can be referred to precisely. In a text message dispute the exhibit is usually a PDF containing the screenshots of one conversation.
An exhibit works best when it is self-describing. A cover page states the label, the matter, the parties, the platform, the date range, and the total page count, so a reader knows what they are holding before reading a single message. Page numbers with a total let anyone confirm no pages are missing.
Keep one conversation per exhibit and label them sequentially. Mixing several threads into one file makes references ambiguous and forces the reader to work out where one conversation ends and the next begins.
