Metadata

Data about a file, such as its creation time, dimensions, and device.

Metadata is information about a file rather than its visible content: creation and modification times, image dimensions, and sometimes the device that produced it.

Metadata can support the order of a set of screenshots, but it is easy to lose. Copying is usually safe; renaming, editing, and sending through messaging apps often strip or rewrite it. Keep originals in place and untouched.
