The standard hash function ThreadProof uses, producing a 64-character fingerprint.

SHA-256 is a widely used hash function that produces a 64-character hexadecimal fingerprint of a file. It is published as part of the Secure Hash Standard and is available in every browser and operating system.

ThreadProof computes SHA-256 for each source screenshot inside your browser and prints the values in the exhibit appendix, so the fingerprints travel with the document.
